The MAD-SUN Putrajaya Challenge was the second collaboration-event of MAD Incubator (MAD) and Start Up Nation (SUN). It was held at the Startup Hub @ PjH, MAD’s new hub at Putrajaya, on the 29th of March 2014, from 10am to 4.00pm, after a recent success of the first business challenge in January.
The MAD-SUN pitching platform is created for early stage startups and entrepreneurs who have ideas, products, schemes, plans, designs and proposals but lack certain factors like seed funding, network and knowledge to accelerate their business. Selected ideas of this upcoming pitching challenge will be awarded the incubation program under the MAD-SUN Startup Program with investment opportunities of up to USD10K per project.
Start Up Nation (SUN) was established in 2011 with a focus on Investments, Acceleration, Social Impact, Digital Marketing, Consultancy and Web Communities. They are now operating in three countries and have successfully gained startup assets as well as networks in 21 countries.
MAD Incubator is Malaysia’s largest private incubator and the country’s most active incubator. To-date, MAD has incubated more than 80 business ventures and is supporting more than 200 companies through its BizStart Programs. MAD targets to democratize entrepreneurship by making entrepreneur assistance and incubation affordable for all entrepreneurs through MAD’s high value quality programs, mentoring, coaching and handholding services, as well as business facilities, networking opportunities, training workshops, facilitation on funding access and lots more.
The second challenge was open to enterprising startups and aspiring entrepreneurs who have ideas, prototypes or products from the three following categories; The Goverpreneur Category for Governmental related ideas and products, The Ecopreneur Category for Green Technology and EcoFriendly related ideas and products, and The Technopreneur Category for Digital Lifestyles related ideas and products.
The MAD-SUN Putrajaya Challenge was held in Startup Hub™ @ PjH, located in Menara PjH, Precinct 2 of Putrajaya, on the 29th of March 2014, Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.
There were 4 chosen ideas out of 8 whom pitched last Saturday. The chosen ideas were firstly, ‘weTravel’ by Sim Piin Kong, a mobile app to integrate the public transportation services. Secondly, ‘Q-Tix’ by Hanif Marzuki and Ellyas Mutalib, a mobile App or Program for users to renew, replace and create all Governmental-Related Documents or Paperwork online without lining up in ques. Third chosen idea was ‘Micro Job’ by Michael Tan Kim Seng, a program for people to offer jobs and tasks that they’re more fond of and happy to do for a small change of cash. And lastly but not least, an idea by Lim Chee How, ‘Tapway Hub’ is an Advanced in-store and offline consumer analytics system to achieve best customer experience. These chosen projects and ideas will be nurtured under the MAD-SUN Startup Program with investment opportunities up to USD10K per project.
The assessors whom assessed and shortlisted the participants were Anne Cheng, Rachel Yang and Elise Tan from Start Up Nation (SUN), Singapore, Bryan Lee from Intraix, Singapore and Andrew Wong from MAD Incubator (MAD).
The pitching-platform event garnered 30 observers of which 25 were registered online and 5 were walk-in supporters. Overall, the event was given many good feedbacks and supporters, as well as the assessors, are looking forward to more MAD-SUN business challenges.
MAD Incubator also would like to thank all participants and supporters for their turn ups, to the respected assessors and to Start Up Nation (SUN), for a wonderful collaborated-event. The MAD-SUN Putrajaya Challenge held at Putrajaya has provided a memorable event for entrepreneurs, technopreneurs, future entrepreneurs and the assessors, to seek helpful information and hopefully more collaborations in the future. All in all, MAD and SUN hopes to bring more exciting events to enliven the year, 2014.
