The MAD Entrepreneurs’ Unconference gives you the exact steps to win more business, make more money and manage your business better, so you can spend more time doing the things you love. Speaker Name: Ashran Dato’ Ghazi Company: New Entrepreneurs Foundation (myNEF) & Joota Talk Title: Lessons I’ve Learned from Business Failures Ashran Dato’ Ghazi is a man of multiple hats. Like many other entrepreneurs, he has gone through the ups and downs of business ventures and is now a known figure in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. This is embodied in the many organizations that he represents which includes Chairman – New Entrepreneurs Foundation(myNEF), Chairman – myHarapan, President – Malaysian Association of Bumiputera ICT Industry & Entrepreneurs(NEF), and Deputy Chairman – Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship Foundation. In addition, he also serves as a Board Member for SME Corp and an Advisory Board Member to Malaysian SME Development Academy (MASMED). Ashran’s career has been one of diversity where he started in the Oil & Gas sector via Petronas MITCO and then moving into the construction industry. He started his entrepreneurial journey in early 2000, and has been mainly involved in various fields, which led him to establish Asiastream Group, a company that focuses in technology, communications/media and human capital development. In 2011, he co founded a Startup called Joota that was going to disrupt social networking by connecting people around content. It was able to garner private investments of USD2.1mil, with patent and distribution partners in the USA. Besides his direct ventures, Ashran also serves as Advisor, Mentor, Board Member and Chairman to few other companies which includes venture builders, accelerators, and startups. Ashran’s journey thus far can be described as one that has been fueled by passion of always wanting to challenge the status quo for positive impact. He does not like to do anything that is deemed normal which is evident from the many firsts that he has introduced or initiated either from a social or business aspect. His more recent new initiative includes creating an accelerator for the creative sector via comics – ComicXcel and a new ASEAN regional award for Startups – Rice Bowl Startup Awards, which will debut this Nov 2015. |
